An apprenticeship provides hands-on experience in a specific field. This practical experience can give college students a competitive edge over their peers when applying for jobs after their course ends as they will have a more extensive skill set and real-world experience.

Undertaking an apprenticeship also offers students the opportunity to earn money while they learn, which can help offset tuition and other college expenses.

Perhaps the most important thing that an apprenticeship can provide is a clear career path. After completion, the young person will have gained a sense of direction and purpose. They will have an understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of working within their chosen industry, and be equipped with the experience and confidence needed to secure a full-time position.
