Background

A Shop-Window Display Designed Around Huntleys’ Brief

Huntleys Estate Agents initially wanted signage and a display system for its shop windows. JC Metalworks was asked to develop a design for leaflet and information holders that would stand out to potential customers and make better use of the window space.

The client wanted something different for the shop launch, while working within a specific budget. The display therefore needed to combine a practical purpose with an appearance suited to a prominent, customer-facing setting.

Challenge

Make the Display Distinctive, Practical and Ready for Opening Day

The brief brought together three requirements: attract attention in the shop window, present leaflets and property information clearly, and keep the design within the client’s budget. The store opening date was a fixed milestone, so the project also needed to stay on schedule.

Visual Presence

The display needed to stand out to potential customers and contribute to the way Huntleys presented its brand from the shop window.

Practical Presentation

The leaflet and information holders had to serve a clear purpose as well as form part of the overall window display.

Cost Control

The client had a specific budget in mind. The design needed to make effective use of materials and fabrication without sacrificing the appearance or robust finish required.

Opening Date

The shop launch created a firm deadline. The project had to be delivered in good time for the opening.

Solution

Turning a Simple Sketch into a Practical Fabricated Display

JC Metalworks worked with Huntleys to develop the original idea into a display suited to the shop window and the practical needs of presenting leaflets and information. The finished pieces combined sheet metal and tube components, which were cut, folded and painted.

01 · DESIGN COLLABORATION

Developing the Idea with the Client

Huntleys came to the project with an idea of what it wanted to achieve. Working from a simple sketch, the designer collaborated with the client to develop the display stands. This kept the design grounded in the original brief and the role the finished pieces needed to play in the shop window.

02 · SHEET METAL FABRICATION

Combining Sheet Metal and Tube Components

The display was created from sheet metal and tube components. The parts were cut, folded and painted to form the finished stands. These processes helped translate the agreed design into a practical display that could hold leaflets and information while maintaining the visual presence required for the window.

03 · COST-EFFECTIVE DESIGN & DELIVERY

Balancing Appearance, Budget and Timing

The display stands were engineered to balance visual appeal and practical function with the client’s budget, without compromising the robust finish needed for a shop-window display. With the store opening date identified as a key priority from the outset, the finished product arrived on time and on budget, ready for the opening.

RESULTS

On Time and On Budget, with a Finish the Client Valued

The project brought the client’s original idea into a finished shop-window display designed to present property information and contribute to the look of the agency’s launch. JC Metalworks balanced the practical brief with a cost-conscious design and the robust finish required for a public-facing display.

The finished product arrived on time and on budget, and the project was completed in good time for the opening. Huntleys also praised the finish and quality of the result.
