At JC Metalworks, we are proud to celebrate the people who have been part of our journey and contributed to the business over the years. This month, we are celebrating a special milestone for Ana, who has reached 10 years of service with JC Metalworks.
Ana joined us as an Accounts Assistant at a time when many of our processes were still manual. Ten years on, she has developed her skills, embraced changes in the way we work, and progressed into her current role as Assistant Accountant.
Her journey is a reflection of her dedication, willingness to learn, and commitment to doing her best.
From Accounts Assistant to Assistant Accountant
When Ana first joined JC Metalworks, the accounts role looked quite different from today.
Much of the work involved manual data entry, handwritten timesheets, customer invoicing, and payment chasing. A large part of Ana’s day was spent entering timesheet information into the system.
There was also the challenge of trying to decipher everyone’s handwriting.
Becoming an expert in accounts was one thing, but becoming an expert in reading handwriting was quite another!
Over the years, Ana continued to develop her knowledge and skills, taking on greater responsibilities and building confidence in her role. Her hard work and constant desire to learn have helped her progress from Accounts Assistant to Assistant Accountant.
Embracing Change Through Technology
One of the biggest and most welcome changes Ana has experienced during her time at JC Metalworks has been the introduction of the MIE kiosks on the shop floor.
In the early years, employees recorded their working hours on handwritten timesheets, which then had to be manually entered into the system. Today, employees can log their time electronically against individual jobs using the MIE kiosks.
The change has transformed the process.
It has significantly reduced manual data entry, improved accuracy, and freed up valuable time that can now be spent on more meaningful accounting and reporting activities.
For Ana, it is one of the clearest examples of how the business has evolved during her 10 years with JC Metalworks.
Learning from Those Around Her
Ana credits much of her growth and motivation over the past decade to the support and guidance she received from Neil and Phil.
Neil was always encouraging and supportive, helping Ana build confidence and develop in her role. Phil’s meticulous approach taught her the importance of accuracy and attention to detail.
Their guidance helped shape Ana’s thorough approach to her work and gave her the confidence to take on greater responsibilities over the years.
Supporting the Next Generation
Ana’s contribution to JC Metalworks extends beyond her day-to-day responsibilities within the accounts team.
She also plays an important role in supporting our apprentices, including young people starting their careers at around 18 years old.
For someone beginning their working life, having a reliable person around them can make a real difference. Ana provides stability, support, and someone they can turn to as they learn to navigate the workplace.
Her willingness to support younger members of the team reflects the approachable and dependable person she is known to be, and her contribution can help give apprentices the confidence they need as they begin their careers.
Beyond the Accounts Desk
Outside of JC Metalworks, Ana enjoys spending time with friends, walking, occasionally running, and travelling.
She also enjoys volunteering through her church, where she supports university students and helps them on their journey.
Ana has a creative side too, enjoying painting and creating glass fusion artwork in her spare time.
Her interests outside work provide a creative and active balance to her role in accounts.
A Valued Member of the Team
Over the past 10 years, Ana has become a trusted and valued member of the JC Metalworks team.
She is known for being reliable, committed, and always willing to give her best. Her friendly personality, cheeky sense of humour, and transparent approach have made her someone colleagues can rely on.
From adapting to new technology and changing processes to supporting colleagues and apprentices, Ana has continued to make a positive contribution throughout her time with the business.
