Background

Developing Secure Storage Products for Sale

Van Vault products are designed to deter theft of tools and equipment from vehicles and work sites. JC Metalworks was commissioned to fabricate Van Vault products for onward sale. The project involved developing the product from a sample, with tolerance-critical folds and in-house screen printing and assembly forming part of the production approach.

Challenge

Meeting the Required Fold Tolerances

Van Vault products incorporated folds that needed to meet critical tolerances. The challenge was to develop the product range from a sample while meeting these precise folding requirements.

Tolerance-critical Folds

Folds within the product needed to meet the required tolerances.

Sample-led Development

The product range was developed in-house from a sample.

Products For Onward Sale

The product range needed to meet Van Vault’s requirements for onward sale to its customers.

Consistent Production Output

Production needed to meet the output levels required for this best-selling product.

Solution

Developing the Product Range In-House

JC Metalworks developed the products from a sample and used its production machinery alongside in-house screen printing and assembly. These processes supported the development of a range of Van Vault products for onward sale.

01 · SAMPLE-BASED DEVELOPMENT

Starting With a Sample

The products were developed in-house from a sample. This sample-led approach formed the starting point for developing the product range for production and onward sale.

02 · FOLDING REQUIREMENTS

Keeping Critical Folds in Focus

The products contained folds with critical tolerances that needed to be met. Fold accuracy was therefore a central production requirement.

03 · IN-HOUSE PROCESSES

Combining Screen Printing and Assembly

In-house screen printing and assembly were part of the process used to develop the product range. Together with the sample-based development work, these processes supported production of the finished products for Van Vault to sell.

RESULTS

Sample Development Led to Repeat Orders

JC Metalworks developed the product range in-house from a sample, using its screen printing and assembly processes. The products went on to generate repeat orders from Van Vault.
