Employees play a vital role in the success of a company. JC Metalworks acknowledges each phase of its employees’ personal and professional lives appreciating all the positive contributions made by team members towards the success of the company.

After serving for more than 6-and-a-half years, Steven Harcourt retired on 15th June 2022. We at JC Metalworks have truly valued his work and greatly appreciate the time he has given our company.  We were delighted to celebrate the beginning of this new phase of his life.

Steve was working in fibreglass installations industry prior to joining JC Metalworks and started working in our Assembly Department through an agency. When a job opening in the Linishing Department came up, he applied for it, got the job and quickly became a fully trained linisher. Since then has greatly enjoyed being a very important part of our team.

Steve said that the quality of his work was totally dependent on the welding of the product. He would constantly be in communication with the Fabrication Team to help them understand how the best end results could be achieved. He would give ideas to the welders that helped him improve his work and make it quicker and easier. He has always felt the need to build good relationships in the workplace for an efficient, productive, and happy work culture. His clarity of thoughts and confidence of putting new ideas in front of the management was very encouraging and depicted a progressive and receptive culture within the business.

He trained many operatives in his team to do fantastic work just like him. About this, he said “I not only train people to do the job, but also help them to develop the right approach towards each task and to enjoy work.”

Steve said that it was always very pleasant to come to work at JC Metalworks. He has made some very good friends here, such as Sam, Vijay and Des. He said Vijay was always very helpful and easy to talk to, and the whole team has been amazing to work with. He will miss everyone at JC.

Sam, our Fabrication Team Leader, said these heartfelt words about Steve on his retirement. “Having worked alongside Steve for 4-and-a-half years, I can safely say his expertise in linishing is second to none. He is always vocal with suggestions and ideas on the job, and within JC as a company.

“Steve’s skills and ideas have been invaluable on a lot of our high value jobs, particularly the finishing required at the curved edges on the digital kiosks which we do, he perfected it to the extremely high standard.

“We are not just losing Steve’s skills, but his influence, ability in training others, and his character. He will be sorely missed.”

Steve Harcourt is a real family man. He is looking forward to retiring with his wife Loraine and living life like a vacation, spending time gardening and fishing. Sharing his happy life anecdote, he said I always try my best to keep my wife happy: “Happy wife Happy Life”

He loves exploring new places and plans to travel around the UK. He feels England is vast and beautiful and there is a lot to see. He remembers traveling with his young kids in a caravan and enjoying holidays around the East coast.

Jason, our Managing Director, said “Steve was one of our specialised linishing experts and did a fantastic job. We appreciate that he has trained many members up to his high standards. His attention to detail helped us deliver high quality products with immaculate finishing. We have always acknowledged his vocalness and brilliant ideas towards the company’s overall quality and productivity. I wish him luck for his future endeavors and would like to thank him for giving his services to our company.”

Everyone at JC Metalworks wishes Steve good luck and lots of joy in the time to come. We are all excited to hear from him, as he starts checking off places from his travel list.
