The JC Year in Review
At this time of year we all tend to reflect back on what has happened over the course of the preceding 12 months, as well as to look forward to the year ahead.
For us at JC, it’s been one heck of a 12 months! Strong and sustained sales have continued to support our planned growth phase and we’ve continued working with long established clients as well as welcoming a plethora of new clients to JC.
We’ve run well over 50 tours of our facilities to potential new clients, existing clients, potential staff, soon-to-be school leavers thinking about a career in engineering and manufacture, award judges, other local / regional businesses keen to know more about what we do and how we do it, and our local MP, Nicky Morgan, who asked to visit us after reading about us in the press. That was a very interesting and useful conversation and one we hope to revisit again next year as our business continues to grow and Brexit plans become clearer.
We were thrilled to see Jason Chauhan, our Chairman, receive a Highly Commended in the Institute of Directors (IoD) Director of the Year awards and then we won Manufacturing Company of the Year at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards!! To say we were delighted would be an understatement. It truly was one of the highlights of our year and was celebrated company-wide. It has also encouraged us to enter more awards. Watch this space!
We’ve also been busy recruiting to strengthen our team and we’ve said goodbye to some dear friends too – though we can’t be too sad about that as they’ve retired and have fabulous plans for their retirement!
We’ve received grants to help us continue our investment in our premises and equipment as well as the training and development of our staff. Our plans will continue to gather pace throughout 2018 with additional significant investment being put into new equipment.
Our strategic partnership with our colleagues in India has gone from strength-to-strength. Their engineering capacity and capabilities have been particularly important to us this year as we have continued to grow. The short lead times they are able to offer us and, therefore, our clients have been very helpful and their team has also grown too with over 45 engineers now working with them. We visit them at least twice a year and Satish our Engineer Co-ordinator liaises with them on a daily basis.
Phew! Quite a year! We hope that your year was just as fabulous and we are looking forward to catching up with you in 2018. Until then, all that remains for us to say is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
