Charity Update – Are You Ready to Walk The Walk?!
9th February 2018 | News
Here’s a date for your diary:
6th May 2018
That’s the day that will see a team from JC tackling the highest mountain in Wales – Snowdonia – which stands 1,085 feet above sea level, and all for charity. We’ll be raising money for our favourite charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
Based in our home town of Loughborough, Rainbows is committed to supporting life-limited children, young people and their families and has been doing so since 1994. Rainbows provides a Hospice that gives care and support to families whilst raising the quality of their life through difficult times, caring for the children and young people until the end and helping with bereavement for the parents and siblings left behind.
“Just like everyone else, our children need a place to play, laugh and love life”, say Rainbows…. and we have a chance to help.
So, we’ll be traveling to Wales on Saturday night (5th May) and, after a hearty breakfast, we’ll start out first thing on the 6th May! Afterwards, once everyone has made it back to base, we will have a brew and enjoy the glory of what we have accomplished before making our way back home.
A Leader and several deputies will help to keep us safe and support us all as we will have different fitness levels. We also have two official training walks planned, which aren’t mandatory but we are strongly advising everyone who walks to join us to come on!
1st – Will be a local walk on Sunday 25th March somewhere close to Loughborough, i.e. Bradgate Park / Beacon Hill. This will be a good opportunity for us to test out any kit and break in our walking shoes
2nd – Will be a bit further afield and a bit more challenging and will take place on Sunday the 22nd April in the Peak District
We’ll keep you updated on progress and yes, of course, we’ll be fundraising! We’ll add the link onto our next update blog so keep your eyes peeled!
See you at the top!
